Once a gpx file was used to create a map - it does not run by itself.

I used a gpx file to create a map. It works nicely. However when I save the map and then try to run it, it does not run and I have to pull the slider to get it going. Also when I log in again, the map I created is shown but I cannot edit it. It wants me to create a new map.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or what I should/should not do
