How to fix marker at Start rather than End? Empty How to fix marker at Start rather than End?

I'm mapping ancestral migrations and I want to place the marker at the origin of a family line and have it stay there, and then have the route travel forward in time, away from the marker. How can I do this?

I thought maybe I could use the Start pop-up and make it permanent. Is there any way to move those pop-ups so they aren't covering up stuff I need to be visible?
