Using Open Streetmap as background Empty Using Open Streetmap as background

I love this tool, and it would be great if I could use it to make animated maps to explain articles on Wikipedia. However, the background currently is Google maps, a (copyright) non-free resource. Would it be possible to also allow different backgrounds, such as www.openstreetmap.org or whatever they would like to upload themselves?

PS: Just imagine being able to create animated maps to show the Lord of the Rings travels etc.
